The first phase of the 104th China Import and Export Fair concluded on October 19th. Statistics showed that the Guangdong delegations achieved a turnover of USD4.46 billion, USD440 million less than last session. The number of booths in this session totaled 7,335, up by 29.7% over the last session. 2,351 Guangdong-based enterprises attended the fair, up by 13.1% compared with last session.
The reduction of the turnover was attributed to the global financial crisis. However, insiders pointed out that since this session featured great differences in categories of products, it was impossible to compare the turnover with that of last session. The second phase of the fair would run from October 24th to 28th, mainly presenting tableware, kitchenware, pottery, furniture, gifts and toys.
