As the largest alternate airport for the Beijing 2008 Olympics, the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has gotten itself ready with the latest plans for security being launched. Officials of the airport promised that all flights to Beijing are sure to operate smoothly and security staff would be dispatched and arrive where an emergency happens within three minutes.
A special team in charge of security has been established which shall coordinate with the other departments in relation to public security, armed police, security checks and terminal operation. The team shall provide 24-hour services.
It would take only two minutes for our security staff concerning public security, armed police and firefighting crews to arrive if an emergency happened in the waiting halls and three minutes for emergencies that occur in other places in the airport, introduced Han Zhaoqi - Deputy General Manager of the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co,. Ltd.
Han also said that after the airport has strengthened security checks, more passengers and their personal belongs - up by 50% - would be re-checked in order to ensure safety. So far, security checks have been conducted on all that pass through the security check doors.
