Executive Vice Mayor Wu Yimin recently disclosed at the Guangzhou Price Work meeting that the GDP of Guangzhou in 2007 was estimated over RMB 705 billion, with the GDP per capita exceeding USD 9500. He noted, however, that there was still a much heavy pressure of price-level hikes to be faced in the first half of 2008 and that the price authority should strive hard to control the increase range of this year's CPI to be under 4%.
According to the rough statistics by the Guangdong Provincial Statistics Bureau, it is estimated that Guangzhou will realize a GDP of over RMB 705 billion last year, an increase of 14.5% compared with that of the year before. And, it was also reported that the GDP per capita increased by 11.3% compared with that of the year before. The General Budget Revenue of Guangzhou hit RMB 211.6 billion.
Executive Vice Mayor Wu said that at this increase in speed, Guangzhou could realize the target of over USD 10,000 of GDP per capita by 2010, which symbolizes that Guangzhou will rank among the developed cities.
