Three years after the Municipal Government regained the property rights to the hotel, it has became one of three Patinum Five-star hotels in China. The other two hotels are the China World Hotel (Beijing) and the Portman Ritz Carlton (Shanghai).
It is interesting to note, however, that the Garden Hotel is the only one of the three that is operated by independently of a large chair and by Chinese. The other two are run by Shangri-La Hotel Group and Ritz Carlton respectively.
Since last August, a series of improvements have been made on the hotel. As a result the area of the guest rooms are twice as large as before. Each room covers 64 square meters.
Some of the guest rooms cover 96 square meters. To achieve these improvements the number of guest rooms has reduced from 1,028 to 828 and there are no longer any standard rooms.
