Statues of fifty-six Guangdong celebrities through centuries who were chosen on September 5 (yesterday), are to be displayed in the newly-built Nan Yue Xian Xian Guan (Museum of South-China Hall of Fame) in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou.
The museum is located inside the Wu Xian Guan Temple in Huifu Xi Lu near Huaisheng Mosque in downtown.
Disputes over the non-Guangdong celebrities were raised by some citizens. They regarded the Museum of South-China Hall of Fame, as an important cultural place of Guangzhou, should be locally-oriented, which would mark the Hall with Ling Nan (Guangdong) characteristic.
Result of the panel discussion came out early this month – the ancestors who made great contributions to Guangdong in politics, military affairs, culture and economy, could enter the museum, no matter where he/she was from.
