Yesterday (Sept. 25th, 2007) was the Chinese traditional Moon Festival when most people chose to have a dinner with friends or family in Guangzhou, China.
However, the rainy weather and traffic congestions made the rush-hour journey to get-together much more difficult than ever.
The main roads of the city were packed with vehicles from 3 pm yesterday. The traffic in Guangzhou Dadao, Tianhe Lu., Huangpu Dadao, Jiefang Lu and so forth was moving very slow and it lasted until 8 pm.
At the same time, more and more people gathered at the stops waiting for buses. In busy downtown places like Tianhe, almost a thousand waited at the Stop of Tianhe Sports Center.
On the other hand, few taxis ran vacant. It was a mission impossible to hail a taxi after 6 pm.
The rainy weather and crowds on the ground drove more people to subway. For passengers’ safety concern, the entrance of MTR Line 3 once closed for a while.
Some passengers were even found fell in faint in a metro train, according to a passenger on the scene.
Many had to cancel their appointments or dinners due to the severe traffic problems.
